Story
A year ago, I was recovering from ankle surgery after nearly three years of injury setbacks. At that time, I wasn’t sure I’d ever run again — and definitely wasn’t thinking about marathon training. But after a lot of rehab, dedication, and hard work, I’m back on my feet. I’m now training for the Tallinn Half Marathon in September 2025 and the Manchester Marathon in April 2026 — a year-long journey that will see me push my limits, and ultimately run the Manchester Marathon 2026.
While this journey is a personal milestone — marking my return to running after injury — it’s about so much more. I’m raising money for Not A Phase, a UK charity doing incredible work to improve the lives of trans+ people across the country.
Not A Phase is a trans-led, grassroots charity that provides support, resources, and community to trans+ adults, aiming to create space for them to thrive. They run initiatives that focus on well-being, self-confidence, and inclusivity, and provide opportunities for personal growth, social connection, and empowerment. Their work includes:
• Misfits, a fitness, well-being, and self-defence programme in partnership with Nike, breaking down the barriers between the trans+ community and traditional gym spaces. This programme builds confidence and offers a safe space for trans+ individuals to engage in physical activity.
• Trans+Connect, a series of support groups designed to connect trans+ individuals at different stages of their journeys. These groups offer community and mutual support to help people feel less isolated.
• Peer support workshops and community events, which help create a space where trans+ individuals can share their experiences and build solidarity.
• Diversity & Inclusion strategies that help businesses and organisations ensure they’re inclusive and supportive of trans+ people in all aspects of life.
I’m running these races to raise £1,000+ for Not A Phase and the incredible work they do to help trans+ individuals live their fullest, most authentic lives. This is about more than just crossing the finish line — it’s about being there for the trans+ community, and making sure everyone has the chance to thrive.
Please donate if you can, share if you’re able, and follow along with my recovery and running journey.
Every step counts. Every donation helps build a better future.
