Story
I'm running the London Marathon 2026 to support refugees, by raising funds for the work of JRS UK!
People who have been forced to flee their homes and seek sanctuary in the UK are often faced with destitution and hostility.
JRS UK accompanies, serves and advocates for the rights of refugees - providing essential support like food, accommodation and advice as well as helping people to navigate a hostile asylum system.
I am already a runner—I run every day—and have taken part in a number of different events, from 5Ks to Backyard Ultras. Slowly, my pace has improved and my times have got faster, although this progress has remained a happy bonus to the main reason I run. Running has always been a way for me to find time for myself—a break from life’s obligations, a way to stay healthy, and a time to think. It also became the one thing I had full control over in a world that often feels chaotic, random, and overwhelming.
This makes running for an organisation dedicated to helping people who probably feel like their lives are completely out of their control all the more meaningful to me.
Thank you for your contribution and support.
