We are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks with #TeamNorthCare!
Although I'm often out walking, these days I only manage a few miles with my baby riding along in the rucksack, so I definitely need to step up the training. The Yorkshire Three Peaks is the perfect nudge to set myself a personal challenge that’s really going to stretch me, whilst doing what I can to support NorthCare Charity.
Once he heard where I was going, my dad, Ken couldn't resist joining in! An experienced hiker with some of the biggest treks under his belt, but will he be able to keep up with my youth? ;)
The money we raise through this challenge will go towards enhancing the Children's Unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital through the charity's new Sunshine Appeal.
The Children's Unit at Royal Oldham Hospital cares for around 10,000 babies and children each year, including those with complex needs, learning disabilities, and mental health challenges. The Unit includes wards, a high dependency unit, procedure rooms, an outdoor courtyard, an infant feeding room and a 'Sunshine Room' for children with complex needs or sadly, nearing the end of their lives.
The Sunshine Appeal aims to breathe new life into the Unit spaces, turning it into a vibrant and therapeutic sanctuary. This transformation will provide children with a comfortable and calming environment, and a respite from the clinical setting of the hospital, becoming a ‘home from home’.
The improvements will also significantly enhance the working environment for our wonderful NHS staff, creating an amazing workspace where patients receive the best possible care in the best possible surroundings.
Any donation you are able to make will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your support <3
