Story
Yasmin Bartlett - 30 minutes walk every day in April 2026
Yasmin’s story:
In Jan 2025 I was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease, a rare disorder where the body produces too much cortisol due to a pituitary tumour. I’ve had pituitary surgery in March 2025. I’m finally 11 months post surgery and in remission from Cushing’s disease but sadly left with adrenal insufficiency and possible growth hormone deficiency.
The worst is behind me now, and I’m doing well. In fact, I'm doing great! But there are some lasting effects and after affects on my body. Chronic fatigue is with me everyday. I suffer with adrenal insufficiency and must take my steroid medication three times a day in order to keep me alive. My body has muscle wasting as well as muscle weakness. I also now have carpal tunnel which has also since developed. All this means I can't do as much as I used to.
I've decided to complete a 30-minute walk every day for the month of April to mark my 1 year anniversary of my pituitary surgery in March 2025 from Cushing’s disease.
I would like to support The Pituitary Foundation for all their love & tender care & support towards me in navigating a new life now living with a rare condition. Alone we are rare, together we are strong! 💪
In April 2026 I will challenge myself in the ‘Move Your Way Challenge’ to walk for 30 minutes everyday for 30 days throughout the month of April 2026. A great achievement for the girl who was left with muscle wasting & muscle weakness, has adrenal insufficiency and was once wheel-chair bound this time last year in Jan 2025! 🙏 I will share pics as I walk my walk through sunny April 2026 feeling so happy, blessed and grateful for life and proud to be here ☀️ 🙏☺️
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for everyone’s continued and on-going support during my Cushing’s disease journey and battle. I love each and every one of you.
Love Yasmin xx
