Yasmin's fundraiser for Play Action International

Project Play: Uganda 2024 · 1 June 2024 to 31 August 2024 ·
Hey everybody! For those who don't know me my name is Yasmin Lewis and I am studying International Relations and International Development at the University of Birmingham. This summer, I have decided to volunteer with Play Action International to transform an empty field at a local school into a vibrant playground so that children can access a childhood! Whilst also supporting their development and well-being. This is something that I feel really passionate about, and I really hope to make a difference to these children's lives.
I am fundraising for the materials and resources I will need to do this. Your generous support will enable myself and Play Action International to create a legacy of play within the local community where so that we can create an environment where children's development and well-being are supported and children are able to learn essential skills that will allow them to reach their potential. Join us in creating a legacy of play, laughter, growth, and endless possibilities.
As a result of playgrounds being built, schools report that:
- 98% report an increase in attendance in school.
- 74% of children gave 'The Playground' as a reason to attend school.
- 83% of teachers reported improvements in children's attention and behaviour in classes.
Although taking this trip to Uganda is so far out of my comfort zone, I hope to face my fears and make important things happen for the local community.
I will be doing various challenges to raise money over the next few weeks - please, if you can donate, you will be supporting this amazing project, ensuring that every swing, slide, and moment of fun contributes to a brighter future for the children, school and wider community. I'm incredibly grateful for your support and cannot wait to see what I can achieve with your help!
Yasmin xx
