Walk/cycle/run 300 miles over 30 days
The 300 Challenge
I'm raising money by walking/cycling/running 300 miles during June. 🦋
Roll back to 2016. I had lost around ten stone in weight (I went from a size 26 to a size 14 in clothes), I was running, cycling, swimming, weight training, eating a strict diet, planning our wedding, buying our first rental property, and just landed a new job. I was achieving my dreams, and my life exceeded my expectations after years of struggling.
Then, one day, I woke up and noticed the sight in my left eye was blurry. A week later, I couldn't see my hand in front of my face, and I was admitted to hospital. In the following two years, my health deteriorated, and I was diagnosed with MS in 2018. I was terrified, lost, and filled with anger. I thought my best years were behind me.
Luckily, I found the charity Overcoming MS shortly after my diagnosis, and despite my MS team thinking I was crazy for opting to manage the disease with lifestyle changes, something inside of me knew it made sense. The charity provided me with a speck of hope just when I needed it, and I am so grateful. ❤️
Today, I genuinely feel the best I've ever felt. The disease doesn't impact my day to day life anymore, and I finally feel well enough again to take on a physical challenge. 💪
I want to help support the charity, so I've decided to participate in the 300 challenge in June to raise at least £300 by completing 300 miles over the month. I will walk, cycle and run the 300 miles (somehow!). I'm not as fit as I once was, and I'm not entirely sure if I have the spare time, but I will find a way!
Your support for me and the charity will mean the world. 🙏
Thank you to those who have already donated. 😍
Every day, 300 people across the world are diagnosed with MS. So, this June, Overcoming MS are asking people to take part and raise money with the 300 Challenge. The aim is to raise £300 in June doing an individual challenge.
There are 2.5 million people worldwide with multiple sclerosis, and it is one of the most common disabling conditions amongst young adults. But there is hope beyond a diagnosis of MS.
Overcoming MS is the world’s leading multiple sclerosis self-management charity. Our vision is that everyone with MS can lead the fullest life possible, using the practical, proven and positive Overcoming MS Self-Management Programme.
