FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Wow! Thank you all for your incredible response to the fundraiser for Ms Keeble.

We are delighted to share that we reached our target for the plaque in less than 48 hours — an absolutely amazing achievement. The outpouring of support and the heartfelt messages people have left have been truly touching, and I’ll find a way to share these with Jo.

Given the overwhelming response, and following discussions with the YSA, we’ve decided to keep the fundraiser open a little longer. We know that many former pupils — now at Backwell or beyond — who were guided through school by Ms Keeble and her wonderful spirit may also wish to contribute.

Any additional funds raised will go towards further tributes to Ms Keeble and other ideas suggested by the school staff, including support for an unveiling ceremony. If you’d still like to donate, you are very welcome to do so.

Thanks again

David

As many of you know, Miss Keeble is retiring as headteacher of Yatton Infant School and Yatton Junior School in December. Miss Keeble has worked in the schools since 2006 and has played an invaluable role in the education of the village's children. Miss Keeble has steered both schools through challenges above and beyond what would be expected of any headteacher, including the fire in the infant school in 2023.

With the new school buildings due to open this term it is a time for celebration. As part of the rebuild the staff at the school would like to name the new school library in the 'Jo Keeble Library' and to install a new plaque. This plaque will cost £530 which the school are unable to fund. I am trying to the money through donations so we can honour someone who has given so much to our community.

I understand that budgets may be squeezed at this time of year, with fireworks, Children in Need and Christmas, but if you are able to donate to this one-off cause it would be a wonderful way to show Miss Keeble what her hard work means to us all.

Please share this link with any friends who have children who studied at the Yatton Schools and who may want to contribute, but please do not share on social media such as Yatton Community on Facebook, as Miss Keeble may see the posts prior to its unveiling.

If we exceed our target any additional funds will be given to the Yatton Schools Association.

Many thanks

David Williams - Yatton Parent
