Story
In summer 2024, we suddenly and unexpectedly lost one of our closest friends and fellow chemistry students at Wadham College, Oxford - Yihong Wang (Emma) - to cerebral aneurysm.
Yihong was the person who tied our group together. She was endlessly positive, energetic and thoughtful. She brought warmth and laughter into our labs, tutorials and everyday lives. Losing her has left a space in our group that can't be filled.
We - a group of chemistry undergraduates from Wadham College - will be taking part in the 2026 Bidwells Oxford 10K race. Although most of us have very little running experience, we are running to honour Yihong's generosity and kindness, and to continue spreading the warmth that she gave so freely. We also hope to support other families facing the unimaginable.
We are fundraising for Headway - the Brain Injury Association, a charity that supports people affected by brain injury and works to raise awareness of these often sudden and devastating conditions. Cerebral aneurysms and other brain injuries can affect anyone, at any time, and we believe there needs to be greater public awareness and support.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean so much - both to us and to those supported by Headway. Thank you for helping us turn grief into something positive, in memory of someone truly special.
