Yola's fundraiser for The Matt Hampson Foundation

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Next April, I’ll be running the London Marathon in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation, a remarkable organization that inspires and empowers young people who have suffered life-changing injuries through sport. In June, I had the incredible opportunity to complete my Physiotherapy BSc elective placement with the Foundation, and during that time, I saw firsthand the life-changing impact they have on their beneficiaries.
The Foundation was founded by Matt Hampson, who sustained a spinal cord injury during a collapsed scrum while playing for England U21 in a Six Nations match against Scotland. Rather than letting this injury define him, Matt created the Matt Hampson Foundation to offer support and hope to others in similar situations.
The beneficiaries of the Foundation receive far more than just rehabilitation. From specialist physiotherapy and personal training sessions to help them adapt to life with their injuries, to psychological support for both them and their families, the Foundation is a pillar of strength. They offer adaptive yoga and Pilates, vocational support, assistance with learning to drive again, and unique experience days such as water skiing, skydiving, and driving experiences — helping individuals rediscover their potential. Beyond these services, the Foundation fosters a supportive community where people who have experienced similar challenges can connect and share their journeys.
The Matt Hampson Foundation has helped hundreds of people reshape their lives and perspectives after sustaining life-altering injuries. But none of this life-changing work would be possible without the support of people like you. Every donation, will help ensure that the Foundation can continue providing this essential care and community to those who need it most. Please consider contributing and help make a difference.
