Story
Bishopthorpe Palace staff are delighted to have chosen York Carers Centre as their charity of the year for 2026. The Palace have a member of staff who nominated York Carers Centre, having experience of being an unpaid carer themselves.
As part of this year’s charity fundraising and in support of York Carers Centre, members of Bishopthorpe Palace staff are bravely volunteering to take part in a wild water swim at Pool bridge farm, near Wheldrake. Some of the staff are also intending to climb Whernside, the highest mountain in Yorkshire, aiming to complete this in 4 hours.
Throughout the year the staff team intend to fundraise and raise awareness by participating in many different events including a pancake day, a car boot sale, and much much more. They will join York Carers Centre in celebrating and raising awareness of carers during Carers Week in June and the team are really excited about getting stuck in with their fundraising efforts.
York Carers Centre are really grateful to partner with the Bishopthorpe Palace team, there are many carers who live close to the Palace and it is amazing that we have been chosen. As a small local charity we rely on donations to help us support carers in York.
