One day, three peaks, countless lives saved through supporting the research and treatment by Cancer Research UK.
On Friday 5th April 2024 Yorkshire Building Control will take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge is a circular walk which encompasses the three largest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, the best-known peaks in the area. This is some of the most picturesque landscape in the UK. Make no mistake, it's a tough challenge with over 1600m of ascent, 24 miles in distance, all to be accomplished within 12 hours, rain or shine!
Why Cancer Research UK? Some of us have already been affected by cancer and some of us will be one day, cancer is set to become the world’s biggest killer by 2030 with 1 in 2 people developing some form of cancer during their lifetime and the work that Cancer Research UK do to fund innovative cancer research, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer is and will save the lives of countless people in the future.
Every year Cancer Research UK miss out on research that could be the start of new cancer cures for the future, between 2017 & 2021 they have had to let 565 new potentially lifesaving cures for cancer go, because they couldn’t fund them.
