Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Switalskis are proud to be partnered with Yorkshire Cancer Research ("YCR") as one of our chosen charities. We know YCR very well and our commercial property department do legal work for them as a client.
We have 9 runners within the firm who are running the event, as follows: Lisa Swales, Claire Murphy, Ryan Dhinsa, Lynsey Lyon, Jasreen Bansil, Clare Middleton, Richard Wisnia, David Greenwood and Hannah Nagle.
Here are a few comments from those who are running:
Richard Wisnia - "There is no area of life untouched by cancer. I lost my Grandad to cancer many years ago. My mum has been diagnosed with cancer no fewer than three times but, thanks to the incredible work of organisations like Yorkshire Cancer Research, she has been able to receive life-saving treatment and has survived the disease. My father-in-law too. But not everyone is as fortunate, and this is why the critical work of Yorkshire Cancer Research needs as much support as you can give it to make sure that more and more and more people survive. Until we beat it for good."
Claire Murphy - “ I have been involved with Yorkshire Cancer Research in a professional capacity for over five years. They are a great charity doing amazing work in Yorkshire and are a pleasure to work with an interact with at every level. I enjoy running and entering this run is a way of “giving back”. I will not be fast though so you are donating to the cause not to help me hit any challenge or PB.”
Ryan Dhinsa - " I am running this event in memory of my uncle who passed away a few years ago to cancer. This means a great deal to me personally and my family. Cancer affects us all. I strive to support this fantastic charity wherever I can because the work that YCR carry out changes and saves lives."
Hannah Nagle - "‘I am running for Yorkshire Cancer Research as I lost my Grandad last summer to cancer. This has left a huge hole in our family and I would like to do what I can to try and help others who may be affected by something similar. It is a great charity and I hope to be able to do my bit to change / help the outcome for others."
Lynsey Lyon - "I began running in 2016 on a beginners running course after suddenly losing a very close friend to Cancer. I have since raised £3967.00 for Cancer charities which has ranged from a 10k race every month in 2017 to half marathons in subsequent years and ultimately London Marathon in 2022. Cancer Charities are a cause close to my heart having lost my dear friend, Godfather and Grandparents to Cancer. Yorkshire Cancer Research are a fantastic Charity, and it will be a pleasure to run for them in my home city, for everyone affected by Cancer and for future research."
Lisa Swales - "I lost my lovely dad to cancer in January 2021. So many lives are impacted by this disease but with the work of cancer research my hope is that one day a cure will be found so that more people can enjoy their lives to the full."
