Story
On the 25th March 2026, we lost our dad Jim, after his battle with cancer. Throughout his journey, he was cared for by the incredible team at St Gemma’s Hospice. They didn’t just look after him medically - in his final weeks; they gave him comfort, dignity, and peace when it mattered most. They also supported our family through one of the hardest times of our lives, and for that we will be forever grateful.
During dad’s last stint in the hospice, there was a picture in his room of Pen-Y-Ghent. After completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks on my 28th birthday, I swore I would never take them on again. But in honour of my dad, I’m going back on that promise.
On the 4th July 2026 - just two days after what would have been his 57th birthday - I will be completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge alongside three of my friends Sean, Ben and Danny, as well as anyone else who would like to join us. We’ll be taking on Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in his memory.
This challenge is not just about the miles or the climbs - it’s about saying thank you. Thank you to St Gemma’s Hospice for the compassion, care, and dignity they gave our dad, and for the support they continue to provide to so many families like ours.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us. Every penny will go towards helping St Gemma’s continue their incredible work.
And if you can’t donate, sharing this page or simply cheering us on means just as much.
Thank you for your support 💜
