Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge For FCN · 21 June 2025

In 2025, The Farming Community Network will celebrate 30 years of ‘walking with’ farmers, farming families and people living in rural communities. 30 years of Listening, Supporting and Connecting.

Story

As a team (Aaron, Curtis, John, Howard & George) we are hiking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in June for The Farming Community Network. Our families, many of our closest friends and ourselves work in and around the farming community. Many of us see the difficulties that farmers are facing on a daily occurrence; Isolation, Family Issues, Bureaucracy and of course the ever changing climate to name just a few.

A friend and mentor to two of us in the group, was put on to the charity for support when struggling with mental health issues and other worries. Having worked with the charity they cannot speak highly enough of FCN, it has helped them, and others immensely. An amazing charity, that helps support the people working in one of the toughest industries.

Hiking has become a release for a lot of people over the last few years, ourselves included. Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge gives us the opportunity to test ourselves, both in body & mind. The real test of our mental resilience... having to hike 24 Miles & 5000 feet of Vertical Ascent... with Howard Lyon!! (Legend!)

FCN relies on fundraising and grants to continue to connect with and support farmers and farming families 365 days a year. In what has been a tough few years for the agricultural sector, now more than ever charities like FCN are needed. Your support to both ourselves and this amazing charity would be gratefully received.

Wish us luck!
