CBRE colleagues are fundraising for Alzheimer's Society to create a better future for families through inclusive dementia support.

Story

Team Rowing the Glide Path — Yulia Brill, Simon Aldridge, Humberto Rodrigues, Nick Winter and Steven Anyon — are taking on the CBRE ROW50 challenge to support Alzheimer’s Society.

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, with someone developing it every three minutes. Through CBRE’s partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, we’re helping ensure more people get the right support, at the right time, when they need it most.

Yulia's story:

I’m fundraising in memory of my grandad, in support of my close friend’s dad, Keith Dalton.

My grandad lived with dementia and sadly passed away in 2022. Seeing firsthand how this disease affects not just the person, but the entire family, is something that stays with you forever.

Keith was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in May 2018, and it turned his family’s life upside down. He’s been married for 54 years, has three children and seven grandchildren, and worked as a Chartered Surveyor. He was an incredibly active and generous man — walking miles with his dogs, climbing mountains, skiing, and spending his free time helping others through DIY, gardening and community work. He was stoic, intelligent and deeply loyal.

As Alzheimer’s progressed, Keith lost his independence, which was devastating for him. After multiple hospital admissions due to serious falls, he moved into a nursing home in August 2024. Today, he relies on 24/7 care and can no longer communicate or remember his former life. Yet he remains gentle, sweet and loving. His carers often say they hope they’ll be caring for Keith that day — he loves being in the garden, listening to music and hearing conversation around him.

Anything you’re able to donate will help families affected by dementia and support the vital work of Alzheimer’s Society.

Thank you so much for your support 💜
