Story
I've been volunteering at Crisis at Christmas since 2018, only missing 1 year (and oh how I missed it!). It means a lot to me being part of a team helping people who are experiencing homelessness feel seen and supported over the festive period with ongoing support throughout the new year.

This year I've decided to utilise my Restorative Yoga teacher skills in fundraising for Crisis in addition to my usual Sponsored Volunteering over Christmas.
So, my usual Thurs evening class is my fundraising opportunity, I won't charge the usual £16 for the hour of super relaxing Restorative Yoga for December classes, BUT you will DONATE min £10 - £29.80 Crisis donation for 2026, in exchange for said 60 mins of rest! 🎄🙏🏾
Restorative Yoga is the perfect pause that provides the body with the opportunity to rest in stillness, increasing your wellbeing on a individual basis, a few examples:
Improved sleep
Reduced stress/anxiety levels
Reduced fatigue
Increased clarity
An opportunity to rest
Using bolsters, blankets, blocks and eye pillows to aid your relaxation, Restorative Yoga helps shift your nervous system from “fight or flight” into a relaxation response, Sympathetic to Parasympathetic nervous system, helping you to navigate life with a little more ease.
Hints & Tips
Yvonne recommends wearing comfortable clothing that will allow you to rest with ease, and bring any other item that helps you to relax, maybe your own eye pillow or blanket, although OSM provides all props
Bring a filled water bottle as there is no water fountain on site
Finding OSM
OSM is not immediately visible from Summerland Gardens. With Marks & Spencer's (M&S) on your right as you enter Summerland Gardens, walk downhill towards the M&S carpark. Turn left at Brocklehurst Flooring, into an un-named cul-de-sac, walk to the very end, looking up you'll see the Yogamatters office branding on the upstairs windows. OSM is downstairs, with their buzzer on the right.
A reminder
You'll need to remove your shoes before stepping into the yoga space and Yvonne asks that phones are on Airplane mode or switched off and away from your mat.
