Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my sister Mandy.

On 21st January 2024 Mandy died suddenly from an unprovoked blood clot. Prior to this she had no symptoms apart from shortness of breath and no-one suspected, even the GP, that there was any immediate danger to her life. She was only 56. It was a huge shock, matched only by our mum also dying suddenly of a blood clot 16 years earlier.

I would like to raise awareness through this fundraiser for Thrombosis UK so that a clot is considered even if the classic symptoms aren't present, so that no other family has to go through losing a loved one from this devastating illness. My sister still had so much to live for - her Community has lost a great talent and I have lost too soon my best friend and confidante.

Mandy was an amazing person with a huge heart in her many roles in life. I would like to remember her by playing some of her favourite songs every day - 56 in all, one for every year of her life, to help me get through the next few weeks of her 1st anniversary, and to do something positive to remember her wonderful life, and to help raise funds so that Thrombosis UK can do vital research and raise more awareness.
