Story
Some people find running relatively easy…not me!! In fact, my stand-out memory from when I first started running, was my brother telling me I ran like Phoebe from Friends! Therefore, taking on a half marathon in April, is an EPIC challenge for me and the biggest physical challenge I will ever have taken on. I have trained for 2-years to get to the point that I feel ready to attempt this and I would love your support to ensure this challenge raises as much money as possible, and therefore enables us to benefit even more people with our work.
As the Founder and Managing Director of Breathe Arts Health Research, I am surrounded every day by the incredible communities and participants who work tirelessly to overcome their own challenges - and I want to run for every single one of those people.
I founded Breathe Arts Health Research 14-years ago and initially it was just me and a laptop! Now, I have a team of 14 staff, over a hundred freelancers and volunteers, and we are now considered one of the leading organisations worldwide working in the unique intersection of arts, health and science. We design and deliver healthcare programmes that change lives. We specialise in working with young people who have had a brain injury or stroke, parents struggling with postnatal depression and their babies, young people living in care and NHS staff. Over the past 14-years we have worked with hundreds of thousands of individuals all over the UK, and as far afield as Australia.
Fundraising remains a major part of my role year-round and so I have decided to take on this personal challenge to help raise money so we can change more lives!
Snippets from my running journey so far (including lots of running in the dark, cold and wet as well as the odd moment of blue skies and even dragging poor Spud out with me!):
