Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our page and showing interest in our fundraiser. We are partaking in the Alzheimer's Golf Challenge - choosing to play 54 holes in one day!!
We are hoping to raise money for the charity whilst doing an activity we love and is / has been special to many of those around us. Our club, Windlesham Golf Club in Surrey, is supporting our challenge.
Our first Tee time is 0700! Followed by 1100 and 1500. We are hoping for a buggy by the last round and lots of refreshments from our support team aka, the Mums.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Around 1 million people in the UK are living with dementia, and this is projected to rise to 1.4 million in 2040. It is a group of symptoms that show your brain isn’t working as it should, e.g. memory loss, problems using words or communicating, struggling to make sense of what you see. Alzheimer’s is the most common type. We have experienced dementia with our loved ones and understand how it can affect all areas of one’s life and those who share it with them. The society is the only dementia charity in the UK that funds all types of dementia research, from biomedical through to clinical and care research. We want to help make a difference.
Any contribution is welcome so we can support the charity in all the great work they do and will continue to do. As the society says, “together, we’re changing the future of dementia”.
