Firstly, thank you for checking out our page …. we really need your support !! Last September Zac and I had this mad idea that we would attempt the Great North Run in 2026 - after standing on the side lines cheering on our son and clapping on thousands of participants, we soaked up the amazing atmosphere … roll on a month and the ballot entries were both submitted and places allocated…🙌🙌 ( let’s call it a joint midlife crisis - second one for me )

Then last month out of the blue our 14-year-old daughter Lexie, became very unwell very quickly !! A couple of 2 and 3 night hospital admissions followed , an appointment at North Tyneside, back to NSEC children's department - numerous blood tests and continuous overnight observations - couldn’t fault NSEC with their thorough investigations ….. blood pressure was throu the floor, massive weight loss - down to a BMI of 14 in a matter of weeks, muscle weakness, extreme fatigue, no appetite and extremely dehydrated ……

On the Sunday 18th January 2026 it was confirmed Lex was having a life threatening Adrenal Crisis but thankfully meds were administered and Addison’s Disease was diagnosed - this rare autoimmune disease - we had never heard of it !!

We as a family are now on a massive learning curve, learning all about Addison's, how to help Lexie, knowing how to help keep her safe and what to do on the event of another adrenal crisis …. So this brings us to perfectly to our challenge…..There is a worthy charity which needs our help ….

Addison’s Disease Self-Help Group (ADSHG) is the UK charity supporting everyone affected by adrenal insufficiency, including Addison’s disease.

Everything they do is driven by a bold vision:

"A world where Addison’s disease and adrenal insufficiency are recognised early and managed effectively so that anyone affected can live confidently and thrive."
