Hi people!

This year I’ve decided to tick a marathon off my bucket list and will be running the Manchester Marathon on April 14th.

42.2kms with a bad back and dodgey calves, but all for a good cause.

I’m aiming to raise money for the charity Families Need Fathers whose aim is to support separated parents to ensure a children’s right to a relationship with both.

“Families Need Fathers (Both Parents Matter) is the leading UK charity supporting dads, mums, and grandparents to have personal contact a meaningful relationship with their children following parental separation since 1974. www.fnf.org.uk”

There is no hate here, only love

For anyone who doesn’t know my story, my daughter Emersyn was born in Sydney on May 23rd 2019 and after separating from her mother, I have been through the Scottish family court system to gain access to her.

Even today, those words ‘Access’ and ‘Court’ send shivers down my spine.

Children should not be ‘Accessed’ where there are no safeguarding concerns.

‘Courts’ are for criminals, not families.

I’ve worked with children and young people for over 17 years. I only ever wanted to be a dad.

I would like to keep other details private. But I’m in a very good place emotionally, physically and professionally now that I can speak about my journey with hope.

There is no preparation for what happens to a parent when you go through the family court system.

Being separated from your only child is a pain I will never fully process but I’m aware enough to know that I need to speak about my trauma and will be doing so with a professional at some stage this year.

My family and friends have been there for me since day 1 and I am forever grateful for your support. I love you.
