Walk to Winter Hill for Kamran and with Kamran – Supporting Alport UK

zahra siddiqui is raising money for Alport UK

Walk to Winter Hill · 17 May 2026

Alport UK is a patient-led charity dedicated to facilitating a support and information network for all those affected by Alport Syndrome. Our Vision is to ensure that all individuals and families with Alport Syndrome feel empowered to enjoy the best quality of life.

Story

When Kamran was just 7 years old, he was diagnosed with X-linked Alport syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects kidney function and usually hearing and eyesight too. He’s now 9 — bright, funny, determined and full of life — and our family and close friends (Lisa, Toby, Max and Eve) will be walking to Winter Hill to raise money for Alport UK.

Hearing the diagnosis was incredibly difficult and brought a lot of emotions. But it also introduced us to an incredible community of families, doctors and researchers who are working tirelessly to improve treatments and support those living with Alport syndrome.

Kamran faces life with courage and positivity. We are unbelievably proud of him. This walk is our way of turning something difficult into something hopeful, and of showing him that he has a whole community behind him. We hope that this will give him strength when he needs it.

By supporting this fundraiser, you’re helping Alport UK continue their vital work — supporting families, raising awareness and funding research that could make a real difference in the future. It’s a small charity so it really needs our help.

If you’re able to contribute personally, or perhaps through your workplace if your company supports charitable causes, we would be incredibly grateful for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, really makes a difference.

Message from Kamran:

“I’m really excited to see how much money we can raise together to help other kids like me. Thank you for your help.”
