Zahrah's fundraiser for Afifah School

Zahrah Mian is raising money for Afifah School
Afifah School is an independent Islamic school in Old Trafford, Manchester. We were established in 2001 and now have 200 students, ranging between 2 -16 yrs (our high school is for girls only and our primary and nursery are for boys and girls). We are a non-profit organisation and a registered charity (1120284). We were awarded an overall GOOD rating by Ofsted in March 2017. In 2018, our GCSE and SATs results were better than the national average. This is despite the huge challenges of working on a small budget, so that we can offer affordable education. How are we different to state schools? ⁃ we have specific lessons on Quran, Islamic Studies, Arabic and Tarbiyah ⁃ cross-curricular links to Islam are made in all subjects ⁃ salah is scheduled within the daily timetable ⁃ focus on the development of an Islamic character ⁃ safe and secure environment that nurtures and safeguards our children’s Islamic ethos As a Muslim community, we need to maintain (and improve) such schools, so that our children can learn and thrive within an environment that conforms to our Islamic beliefs.

Story

As-salamu alaykum,

My name is Zahrah Mian, I’m a student at Afifah School, and I’m raising money with Islamic Relief, a charity that helps people in need around the world by providing food, water, shelter, and education. Your donation can make a real difference to families struggling with poverty and hardship, and it helps children get the schooling and learning opportunities they need to grow and succeed. Even a small amount can change lives. Please support and share, so together we can help those who need it most. 💙
