This July and August, the Big Ride for Palestine 2025 is riding in cities across UK to support the Gaza Sunbirds Paracycling team.

Story

Hello friends, family, and kind strangers,

With a heavy heart, I’m taking on The Big Ride for Palestine 2025 once again.

I'm riding this year to raise urgent funds for aid and medicine distribution in Gaza, support that will be ready to go the moment the borders open. You don’t need me to explain the situation on the ground; it’s painfully clear to all of us.

This year, I’m once again riding in support of the Gaza Sunbirds, a remarkable team originally formed to compete in the Paralympics. Since October 2023, their focus has shifted. They’re now on the front lines in Gaza, helping to deliver food and aid into areas cars can no longer reach due to the widespread destruction of roads and infrastructure.

🚴‍♂️ My Rides:

I’ll be taking part in three back-to-back weekend city rides, each averaging around 75 miles:

* Ride 1 – 26th July 2025 – Bristol

* Ride 2 – 2nd August 2025 – Birmingham

* Ride 3 – 9th August 2025 – London

Hundreds of us from all walks of life and all over the UK will be joining together to show solidarity and raise funds.

Even a small donation… the price of a coffee, can go a long way. Your generosity last year was incredible, and I’m hoping we can match (or beat!) that support again.

💡 A bit about the Gaza Sunbirds:

The Gaza Sunbirds are a team of para-athletes founded by Alaa al-Dali, a promising cyclist whose leg was amputated after he was shot during the Great March of Return. Alaa didn’t give up his dream—he started the Sunbirds with the hope of representing Palestine on the global stage.

Due to the ongoing crisis in Gaza, most of the team have paused training and are now working to distribute food and medical supplies to their communities. A few, including Alaa and Mohammed Asfour, have been able to leave Gaza and are now training in Belgium.

In September 2024, Alaa made history as the first cyclist to represent Palestine at the Cycling World Championships. He has qualified again for the 2025 Championships in Belgium, and his journey continues to inspire hope and resilience.
