Story
I am someone who has struggled with mental health since starting High School. Now 8 years on and 19 years old I feel like it is time to spread awareness about the amount of people who also go through similar experiences to myself. Not just this but also make as many people aware about the help that is available for the people who are struggling. 1 in 5 of us will have suicidal thoughts at some point in our lives. Now more than ever it is so important that we start talking about our mental health and seeking help at the earliest possible time.
I have decided to do a sponsored walk in aid of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). On 7th July the route I have chosen starts at Reddish North End onto the Etihad Stadium, then down to Edgeley Park, and then back up to finish at Reddish North End.
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably.
From advice on our site, through to free, confidential chats with our helpline staff, online or on the phone, we’re here for whoever needs us, every day. No matter what.
£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
