Story
Alongside my Dad, husband and friends, I will be hiking to Everest Base Camp over 13 days starting at the end of May. This journey began a few years ago with the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge, followed by Snowdon and Ben Nevis, all working towards this goal. It's my Dad's dream to reach EBC, and as the one who started my love of hiking, it will be my honour to complete this with him.
I am hoping to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestinians, to help those afflicted across Palestine, particularly in Gaza. It is beyond difficult to comprehend the pain that Palestinians have been carrying over so many decades, on top of the devastating loss of the past seven months. The numbers are cold and evident. Deeper than statistics, these are real people. Please read their histories, their stories, and reflect on how we are all connected. Be clear in stating the responsibility and cruelty of Israel, and the complicity of the US and UK. Every day that the genocide continues is a stain on our humanity, we are all witnesses and we must keep doing everything we can to help stop this. No act is too small. It's "Free Palestine" until Palestine is free.
It is important to acknowledge our privilege in being able to complete this trek thanks to the strength and patience of the Sherpa community, who have always been without the credit they deserve. We will keep this with us as we travel, respecting our hosts, guides, porters and the land we traverse.
