Double Distance for Dogs in need

Zarah Pattison is raising money for Staffie Smiles Rescue

Go Swim Loch Lomond · 30 August 2025

We are a non-profit organisation that relies completely on donations from adoptions and fundraising events so that we can ensure that any dog we help to save is healthy and up-to-date with vaccinations, neutered, given worm/flea treatments and that they are treated for any illnesses before rehoming.

Story

Doubling my open water swim distance to 1500m!

I am excited to share that I will be doubling my open water swim distance to 1500m at the upcoming Go Swim Loch Lomond event on August 30, 2025!

As many of you know, across the UK and globally, animal rescues are overwhelmed and stretched to capacity. A small charity like Staffie Smiles Rescue is feeling the strain more than ever.

Last year the money you raised for my first ever open water swim of 750m helped many of the long term kennel dogs: Olivia finally had her extremely painful eye removed and is now in a loving home. Hope is now living her best life in a loving home! King, Dobby and Jazz are continuing with their training awaiting a family of their own.

Please help me help dogs in need again!

ABOUT STAFFIE SMILES RESCUE

Staffie Smiles Rescue take in many dogs that have been had horrific experiences, they also save dogs that are due to be killed (also know as 'put to sleep') from overstretched Pounds.

Alongside rescuing dogs from the pound; Staffie Smiles Rescue also try to help with owner surrender requests. To put into context Staffie Smiles Rescue has had 38 owner surrender requests in the last few months, and they simply can’t take them in.

A message from Staffie Smiles Rescue:

"We are heartbroken to say this, but as a small charity, we are at capacity. We have no kennel space left, no available foster homes and we are seeing no movement for our long-term dogs, coupled with dogs coming back into the rescue as we give all our dogs safety for life.

💔 Dogs are waiting. Some have been waiting too long.💔 We hate saying no, but we have no other choice right now.💔 These are good dogs — victims of a system that’s stretched beyond breaking point. "

We are an extremely small charity, there is 6 of us who run the rescue on top of our own work, families, our own dogs etc., we do this in our spare time.

Hope safe and happy in her new home with adopted brother Levi.
