Story
Hi! My name is Zoe.
Between 4th and 6th of July, I will be taking part in a challenge to climb two of the highest peaks in the Lake District; Blencathra and Helvellyn.
I will be making the trip up North with my Dad and a group of 45 friends who are all busy training for the big weekend.
I am taking on this challenge to raise funds for a charity called Teddy's Wish, an organisation which provides care and support for families grieving the loss of a baby and funds vital research into the causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), stillbirth and neonatal death. Teddy's Wish provides hope in difficult times for grieving families and was set up following the sudden death of its founders' son, Teddy.
The reason why I have chosen to support this charity and why it means so much to me and my family, is because almost exactly a year before I was born, my older sister, Arella, was stillborn, just a week before her due date.
My parents met Teddy's parents following Teddy's death and have watched their charity grow from strength to strength. It's a small volunteer-run charity but they make a big impact. Teddy's Wish works alongside the bigger, more well-known charities such as SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society), Tommy's and the Lullaby Trust.
Hopefully, I can help other families who find themselves in need support at a difficult time.
I never got to meet my sister but I am doing this challenge in her honour.
Thank you for reading, wish me luck and if you are able to, please give whatever you can... In return I will share my photos and updates.
XO ZO
