Story
We’re taking on a big challenge together — and a bit of a scary one too! Margot and I will be abseiling 30 metres down Bristol's iconic Avon Gorge to raise money for FareShare South West!
Margot is acutely aware of the world around her and she knows as a feisty 10 year old girl she has power, strength and agency, and her actions can, and do, have a real impact on the lives of others.
"I'm doing this abseil to help people who don't have enough food and stop food going to waste. We love food in our house and I want to help other people to enjoy food too. I think it will be a bit scary and a bit fun!"
Right now, more than 1 million people in the south west are living in poverty. Meanwhile, 4.6 million tonnes of quality, edible food – enough for more than 10 billion meals – is wasted every year across the food industry, causing irreparable climate damage. FareShare South West redistributes good-quality surplus food to charities and community groups, helping feed people who are struggling while also reducing waste. It’s an incredible mission, and we’re proud to play a small part in supporting it.
Every £1 you donate could provide food for 4 meals – so whatever you can give will make a real difference.
