Story
This October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I’ll be walking 100 miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Now which is a cause that has suddenly become incredibly personal to me.
At 34 years old, after finding a lump, I heard the words I never expected to hear…
You have breast cancer.
I’ve been diagnosed with Grade 3 triple negative breast cancer and will shortly be starting treatment.
Life has changed very quickly for me & my family, and while I’m still getting my head around everything that’s ahead, one thing I know for certain is that I want to turn something scary into something positive.
So throughout October, I’m walking 100 miles for Breast Cancer Now 💕🎀🎗️
During those 31 days, breast cancer will take almost 1,000 lives in the UK. They are mums and daughters, friends and colleagues. Someone loved. Someone lost.
Right now, research, treatment, support and hope mean more to me and my family than I could ever properly put into words.
I’m walking for the women going through treatment now.
For the women who have been through it.
For the families standing beside them.
And for the incredible people researching better treatments and, hopefully one day, cures.
Breast Cancer Now has a vision that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and live well.
Every pound raised helps fund their life-saving research and life-changing support, something I now understand the importance of more than ever.
For me personally, this challenge is also giving me a reason to keep moving, get outside, clear my head and remind myself on the difficult days that I can still put one foot in front of the other.
Every mile will probably mean something different over the next month, but all 100 of them will be walked with purpose.
I genuinely cannot believe the support I’ve already received before October has even begun. Every donation, message, share and word of encouragement means more than you know. 💕
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you can’t, sharing my page means just as much.
Here’s to 100 miles, LOTS of steps, probably some questionable British weather ☔️ and raising as much as I possibly can for a charity that now means the absolute world to me.
I may temporarily have breast cancer, but I’m permanently determined. 👑💕
Thank you a million for reading.
