Story
In April 2026, I will be taking on 26.2 miles at the Brighton Marathon for Team Speech and Language UK.
Our family knows first-hand how life-changing the right support can be. This past September, my daughter finally started at our dream school—a place where she has the specialized, daily input she needs and is surrounded by friends with similar challenges.
Seeing her settle in so quickly has been a joy. She has always loved school and being around people, but the difference this environment has made is significant. We are so excited to see what she will achieve over the next few years in a place where she is truly understood.
Why I’m Running:
While we have been fortunate, 2026 is a difficult year for many. There are currently two million children in the UK—one in five—who are struggling to talk and understand words. Without the kind of support my daughter now receives, these children face a future of isolation, academic struggle, and frustration.
I am running to ensure more families can access the advice, tools, and specialized support they need.
£15 could ensure the free online progress checker continues to be there for families and educators worried about a struggling child.
£40 could fund a life-changing call with a Speech and Language Advisor for a worried parent.
The Brighton Marathon will be a huge physical challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the daily challenge of not being able to communicate. Please donate what you can to help me reach my goal and help these children find their voice.
