Kidneys for Life Morecambe Bay Walk 2024 · 30 June 2024 ·

Famed for its wide, stunning views and treacherous shifting sands, on Saturday June 10th 2023 we will be guided by Michael Wilson- the official guide of the Guide over Sands Trust - across the 8 miles from Arnside to Grange over Sands.

Story

It was the 25th Anniversary of my kidney transplant last month, which I received after spending almost 8 years on dialysis. It's a time of gratitude, reflection and celebration with my thoughts and thanks always to my amazing donor and donor family for giving me the precious gift of life which has enabled me to live life to the full. Also to my brilliant surgeon Neil Parrott and to all the NHS staff, nurses and doctors at Manchester Royal Infirmary, who looked after me then and have continued to do so to this day. As a way of giving thanks and to continue to raise awareness for all those still waiting for their precious life saving gift, I'm walking the 8 mile route across Morecambe Bay Sands on Sunday 30th June 2024 for Kidneys For Life, the MRI based charity which funds vital research into kidney disease and treatment for kidney patients. If you're able to sponsor any amount to raise funds for this amazing charity I'd be most grateful. Thanks for reading and here's to many more wonderful years ahead! 🤞❤️😀🚶‍♀️Xx

A large number of the population have chronic kidney disease and can develop kidney failure needing dialysis or a kidney transplant. We raise funds for research into kidney disease, transplantation and dialysis and amenities for renal patients at MRI, NCA, Preston Hospital, Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital and the satellite dialysis units.

We are very grateful for all the support that we have and work hard to help renal patients now and in the future.
