Story
Hello everyone!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On April 12, 2026, I’ll be running the Hapalua Half Marathon in Honolulu to support The Manta Trust, the global leader in manta and devil ray research and conservation.
Manta rays are gentle animals that play a vital role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems and are powerful indicators of ocean health. Because they grow slowly and reproduce infrequently, manta populations are especially vulnerable to human impacts such as fishing pressure, habitat degradation, and climate change.
As a marine biologist living and working in Hawaiʻi, I’ve seen firsthand how important healthy manta communities are, as well as the growing threats they face. I’m proud to support the Manta Trust for their science-based, community-driven approach to conservation. Their prioritization of ethical engagement and local stewardship drives their effective long-term impact.
Your support will help to fund vital research, education, and conservation efforts around the world by protecting manta rays and the ecosystems they depend on. By contributing, you’re helping ensure a future where these incredible animals and local communities can thrive.
