Story
This year, we’re joining Operation Ocelot Mission Three to help save Kenya's extraordinary Dakatcha Woodland.
Now I know what you might be thinking. Ocelots. Okay. Kenya. Hmm. Since when did Ocelots live in Kenya?
Well, the answer is that they do not and indeed never have lived in Kenya. However, following the success of Mission One and Mission Two – together helping save threatened habitat in Guatemala and Brazil – Operation Ocelot has now been called upon to save endangered species elsewhere! That is why Mission Three, spearheaded by WLT Patron Steve Backshall, is heading to east Africa's coastal forests to save the precious wildlife of the Dakatcha Woodland.
Anyone who knows Ronan will have no doubt of his love for the natural world. He has a wealth of knowledge about all sorts of species, especially some of the more obscure. He has already completed small projects like creating habitats for invertebrates and bird boxes. Following trekking through the rainforest in Borneo and seeing many rare species, but also the destruction in other areas and devastation it brings to the species that live there, Ronan is determined to raise his game! He decided to support the World Land Trust and in particular Operation Ocelot championed by one of his heroes Steve Backshall to help save habitats from destruction. The challenge comes only a couple of weeks after Ronan’s birthday and he said that he doesn’t need anything and wants instead for money to be given to the cause. 🥰
What is the challenge that Ronan decided would help spur you all on to sponsor him?
Ronan wanted to push himself and so we are climbing Snowdon! He thought it would be a great personal challenge out in some beautiful countryside. We will be travelling to Wales in the Easter holidays and we will be sure to share the journey with you.
