VSO is a charity that creates placements from young people (like myself) to volunteer abroad doing work such as aid in orphanages or schools in 3rd world countries. VSO works side by side with ICS - a government funded programme that funds people like me to travel. 

VSO/ICS are a fantastic cause as it allows people like me to travel without the extortionate costs of gap year companies. It also gives people in the courtries our placement is in to have help in places it is desparately needed. 

On the 31st March 2014, I will be flying to India to begin by placement for 12 WEEKS!! 

There are 3 parts to the programme I am embarking on;

1. Fundraising - I have a challenge of raising £1500 to donate to VSO as a sign of commitment to the charity, the creation of awareness and overall giving something back because they're doing a nice thing for me!

2. The placement

3. Home community work - this will be a speech or something that promotes the programme for future volunteers.
