My father, Dr. John Keating has experienced Parkinson's in full affect the last few years. This year my mom couldn't offer him the care at home he needed and now he resides in an assisted living facility. It breaks our heart to see our father who worked his whole life to provide for our family suffer from this disease. It has slowly worn away at him. Along with the Parkinsons some dementia has also set in but he has been a very good patient and carries his notebook around with him to keep him mind as sharp as possible! It has limited his physical and mental abilities but he still finds ways to crack a witty joke just when you least expect it! We truly are so blessed to call him our dad. His life story is amazing and a career spent helping patients with cancer was one that will never be forgotten.
This year alone 60,000 people will be diagnosed with Parkinsons disease, and the Parkinson's Foundation is here to help. That's why I'm joining the Parkinson's Champions team and raising funds and awareness while I challenge myself to run in my community. Every dollar I raise will help beat Parkinson's, we may be physically apart, but we can still be #Together4PD. Donate today!
