At Salisbury Hospice, we understand the profound impact of a progressive, life-limiting illness—not only for those diagnosed but for their families and loved ones. We offer our patients compassionate, palliative and end of life care, providing comfort, and guidance at every step.

Story

 The Clock Tower Challenge 2011 will be held from 25th - 27th March 2011 and all monies raised will go to Salisbury Hospicecare.

Clock Tower Challenge 2011 is NOT a race, but it will take teams of up to 4 participants through five countries and over 1,000 miles in just 3 event-filled days!

Starting from Salisbury (in the UK), the route will include:

Dover (UK);
Calais (France);
Lille (France);
Liege (Belgium);
Cologne (Germany);
Dusseldorf (Germany);
Munster (Germany);
Apeldoorn (Holland);
Zwolle (Holland);
Amsterdam (Holland);
Utrecht (Holland);
Brugge (Belgium);

Participants will be staying overnight in Cologne and Amsterdam - two of Europe’s greatest party towns!

For some it will be an enjoyable visit to some of Europe’s most interesting cities - for others it could turn into the challenge of a lifetime.

In the Clock Tower Challenge you will drive through five European countries (collecting photographs of clock towers and completing a number of challenges as you go).

Crossings, accommodation and all travel arrangements are for you to plan. There will be a pre-event briefing on Friday 11th March 2011.

The overall winner will receive a signed photograph of Sir Stirling Moss donated by Clive Cannell, of Legends Memorabilia (www.legendsmemorabilia.uk.com).

There will be a prize draw of postcards collected from each country along the way. There will also be prizes for:

• The shortest distance travelled;
• The furthest distance travelled;
• Winner of the Clock Tower Quiz;
• Winner of the Postcard draw;
• The oldest car to complete the route.

It’s not just a great driving experience, but a great chance to visit some fascinating destinations, meet new people and raise some money for a great charity.

The Clock Tower Challenge is open to all ages. All you need is:

• Current UK driving licence (for those driving);
• Roadworthy vehicle;
• Digital camera (with a date and time function);
• A mobile phone - with European roaming switched on;
• Your passports, MoT and European insurance cover;
• European Recovery Cover (highly advisable);
• Travel Insurance (highly advisable);
• Euros to keep you going on the way;
• A sense of adventure (and humour);
• A map or Sat Nav;
• A willingness to do something different for charity;
• Payment of £100 entrance fee per car... and lots of generous sponsors!
• High visibility jackets, breakdown warning triangle, headlight lens adaptors and a fire extinguisher.

Salisbury Hospice Fundraiser, John Lakeman, says:

“Last year’s Clock Tower Challenge succeeded on all fronts – it was fun, challenging, team building and raised a lot of money for Salisbury Hospicecare. I am grateful to Paul sample and the Mustard Agency for once again organising this unique and important event. The more teams the better!”

Clocktower Entrants could win signed photograph of British Motorsport Legend Stirling Moss

A Salisbury businessman, Clive Cannell, has stepped forward with an exciting prize to tempt entrants in Salisbury Hospicecare's Clocktower Challenge.

Clive, of Legends Memorabilia, has come forward with a signed photograph of Sir Sterling Moss, the iconic British motor racing champion, who won 212 of the 529 races he entered, including 16 Formula One Grand Prix.

Event organiser Paul Sample, said: “I'm very grateful to Clive Cannell and Legends Memorabilia. This splendid prize is very apt for a road challenge like ours and I'm sure it will encourage more people to enter the event. We still have places available . Every penny raised goes to Salisbury Hospicecare."
