Paul's Half Marathon for Music

Plymouth Half Marathon 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·
For as long as I can remember, music has been a big part of my life - I've sung since I could speak!
As a worship leader, music has been at the heart of my faith and my relationship with God.
As a dad and family man, I cannot imagine car journeys without blasting out tunes at the tops of our voices from Frozen, the Greatest Showman (go on admit it - you do it too!) and countless other great movies or shows (a particular low would have to be anything from the Wiggles which we endured in the earlier days of parenthood).
Music makes a massive difference in my life - making it richer, adding colour and flavour, building faith and bringing me closer to those around me.
And that is why I am beyond proud to be a trustee of Plymouth Music Zone - a charity dedicated to improving lives through music.
I have sat and watched (with tears in my eyes) as children with disabilities take part in a music session, expressing themselves and having so much fun. I've sung along with older people in nursing homes enjoying tunes from yesteryear as they remember days gone by and enjoy feeling happier, healthier and less isolated as a result of a brilliant singing session. I've seen pride, a sense of worth and confidence blossom in young people that society often would write off, as they rehearse, practise and perform - with a joy of realisation on their faces that people care about what happens to them and believe in them.
But this magical musical mastery that PMZ churns out for thousands of people each year costs money.
So I'm throwing on my running shoes and taking on the Plymouth Half Marathon.
Whether you can give £1 or £100 please do give - it will encourage me along each and every mile - but more importantly it will help make more music with the power for good!
Thank you so much.
