UPDATE:
Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us. We completed the half marathon yesterday. The weather was beautiful (if a little to warm and sunny for running). I can honestly say it is the most difficult thing I have ever done. The only thing that kept me going was thinking about the generosity of everyone who sponsored us, and knowing what huge pleasure it has given my mum, to read everyones comments and to see how much money has been raised for the Penny Brohn centre. We are all aching a little today and I have lost a couple of toe nails and am very glad to be hanging up my running shoes for good.
Thank you again for sponoring me - I really, really appreciate it.
In September 2009 my mum, Diana was diagnosed with secondary cancer. She was told that it had progressed too far and was untreatable. Armed with this dreadful news her first step was to phone the Penny Brohn Cancer Care centre where she embarked on a rich and comforting journey. In June this year she went into remission and continues to be scanned regularly. The Penny Brohn centre has helped her in so many ways but most importantly gave her hope and comfort. I am so grateful for that.
Since starting this page, unfortunately mum has just had the results of her last scan and has found that all 4 tumours have returned so will be starting 6 months of chemotherapy again on Tuesday 29th September. She is confident though that she will shrink the tumours again.
I am not a natural runner and have set myself the very hard target of running a half marathon. Please sponsor me so that I can give something back to the centre.
PS. Andrew is also running with me to raise money for Pennye Brohn and has helped motivate me with my friends Laura & Helen in our training.
