LAFF gives children and organisations in Peru the tools and skills they need to build a more independent future. We provide education and vocational training for at-risk young people. We also support homes to be more sustainable with income-generation, cost reduction and capacity building.

Story

"To attempt an Ironman as your first triathlon is an either an act of supreme confidence or utter stupidity"  Gordon Bryn, author of "Going Long" the definitive book on Ironman training.

I will be swimming, cycling and running in memory of my dear friend Hannah Barrett who sadly passed away a couple of years ago.  Hannah was heavily involved in the Latin American Foundation for the Future (LAFF) charity.

An Ironman consists of a 3.8km open water swim, a 180km cycle and a marathon (42km).

After an intense (ish) 9 months (ish) of rigorous (ish) training I will be entering my first triathlon - the Challenge Henley Ironman.  As the Ironman is not traditionally an entry level event for the discipline of triathlon, this is definitely an act of sheer stupidity as opposed to supreme confidence, as I am positively scared of what will be a gruelling 14 - 16 hours of swimming, cycling and running.

LAFF is a charity which work with marginalised children in Peru including running homes and education programmes.
