Camino de Santiago - Saint James Way · 11 July 2019

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On the 11 July 2019 I will start my Pilgrimage walk in Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compestela and on to Finisterre, 550 miles, completing my walk on the 25 August 2019.
The walk starts in France, over the Pyrenes , across the border into Spain, along Saint James Way in the north of Spain, arriving at Saint James Cathedral in Santiago, and then on to Finisterre on the west coast of Spain.
This will be my fourth walk of Saint James Way, the third time to do the full French Way, so I know I can do it, but it is hard work for a 74 year old man walking alone.
At the present I am busy training, which includes hill walking on the Malvern Hills to ensure I am fit and able for the occasion.
I decided to support Alzheimer's Society with my fund raising on this occasion, as I have witnessed the effect this life changing disease has on friends and their families.
To keep my family and friends informed I will complete a daily blog on my own Facebook page. I done this successfully on my previous walks, getting wonderfully daily support and encouragement along The Way.
