Story
Hello
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
My goal is to raise awarenss about the impact that a stroke can have on anyone, their family and friends.
I'm keen to highlight the fantastic work that The Stroke Association carry out with all their support, advice and guidance.
At the same time, Im keen to conquer my own fear of heights that I've had since childhood. You can watch me try to overcome my fear of heights on 'Fright Club' Sky 1 - Wednesday 10 June 2015. A new 6 part series to help people overcome their fears and phobias. I received fantastic support, help and guidance and loved the experience.
Witnessing someone having a major stroke is a harrowing experience particulary as it was Mum who was absolutely fine immediately beforehand. I was able to recognise the symptons straight away, but very sadly our Mum only survived for a few days afterwards.
Mum had worked tirelessly for The Adur Stroke Club based in Shoreham by Sea on a voluntary basis. Mum was able to help those who were recovering from a stroke, she dedicated her time because our Dad had sadly also suffered from a stroke and of course helped because she had a heart of gold, always wanting to do what she could for others.
I have a severe fear of heights, so of course I thought it would be a great idea to raise awareness about the impact of strokes by leaping off a tall building with the aid of a rope - erm, I'm sure there is some logic in there somewhere?
Anyway, I'd be absolutely delighted if you could please help The Stroke Association by donating on my Just Giving page as I take the plunge of abseilling from the top of the London Orbit building, which is the tall corkscrew structure just by the Olympic Stadium. It's the highest freefall abseil in the UK.
The company I work for, Legal and General Assurance Society Ltd, have very generously agreed to match £ for £ the first £500.00 donated, which is fantastic news and effectively doubles your own contribution. Every penny you give will be gratefully received by me and The Stroke Association.
Donating through the Just Giving page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Just Giving - they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for charity.
Please help me to raise money and awareness of the fantastic work carried out by The Stroke Association.
Very best wishes and thank you.
