Story

Walking, running, swimming, cycling, zumba, yoga, football, lawn tennis etc. Imagine not being able to do the activity you love due to a disability. It’s so easy to take the ability to be active for granted. Some people are born disabled, whilst others become disabled due to an illness or accident. The common denominator is that most disabled people do not lose their zest for life. They only need the right facilities to be able to thrive.

This is where the English Federation Of Disability Sport (EFDS) comes in. The EFDS works to make active lives possible by enabling organisations to support individual disabled people to be active and stay active for life. This national charity looks to a better future where everyone can enjoy the opportunities available. Established in September 1998, the EFDS has a simple vision- that disabled people remain active for life. More info on http://www.efds.co.uk/about-us.

This amazing charity has helped young children in wheelchairs, blind and deaf people,  armed forces and emergency services personnel e.g. police officers, NHS staff etc, that have been injured in the line of duty; the list is endless.

My brother, sister and I are all running the Virgin London Marathon on the 22nd of APRIL 2018, to raise awareness and funds for the EFDS. We have seen first-hand the devastating effect of illness with our darling mother. Our mother had the unflinching support of my father; however, a lot of people don’t have this good fortune. This is why the work the EFDS does is so important; they step in and fill a void in so many lives.

The EFDS needs our support to carry on the great work they do. No amount is too small, but please give as much as you can. Our target amount is four thousand , five hundred pounds (£4,500).

On behalf of the 'the three amigos', thank you.
