Hi everyone,
It's here! On the 3rd April 2011 as many of you know, I'm running the 26th Marathon des Sables for Help the Hospices. One of the toughest footraces in the world, it's a 250km, 7 day, self sufficient race across the Sahara. Obstacles to overcome include: 250km, 50 degree heat, blisters, dehydration, scorpions, blisters, sand storms, sand dunes, running with 7 days of food & kit and more blisters. What larks Pip!
I'm running in memory of my dad who lost his battle with cancer on 25th April 2010 (London Marathon day). An absolute legend and marathon runner himself, he was looked after by hospice workers both in-house and helped mum care for him at home.
A quarter of a million terminally ill adults and children rely on this money being raised each year to be cared for by hospices in the UK, either in a hospice or in their own home. Hospices are the largest fundraising cause in the UK and between them they need to raise over £400 million every year to keep going.
Each of these patients will be a mum, brother, sister, friend, colleague or as in our case a dad. Whether they are at home, in day care or in a hospice, the care they receive is tailored to their own individual needs and is given free of charge.
I'm sure you agree with me that this is worthy cause and I hope that with my race I can raise both the profile and some much needed money for those who helped us at our time of need.

I'm self funding my entry into this event, so every penny you donate will go towards Help the Hospices.
Thank you in advance. It means a lot
