Story
Hi there, and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most people know me due to my appearances on the ghost hunting show 'Most Haunted', but I would like to share with you a more personal and private side to my life, one which has seen my wife Sara and I go through the emotional turmoil and heartache of losing a child (in our case we've lost 5) during early pregnancy, and why this year I will be fundraising for the Saying Goodbye charity, part of the Mariposa Trust.
Saying Goodbye and The Mariposa Trust have been established to provide services and support for people who have lost children at any stage of pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy, be it last week or 60-years ago.
Over the past few years Sara and I have had personal experience of the devastation that losing a child brings; in our case we have endured early pregnancy losses no less than 5 times, and believe me it does not get any easier or less painful. However, there are those who provide services of support, comfort and help to those like us, and the Mariposa Trust is one of them. That is why this year I will be fundraising for them.
FUNDRAISING
So what am I doing to raise funds for this fantastic charity?
On Saturday 26th July I will be heading out to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where I will be aiming to complete a hike of the Three Yorkshire Peaks (Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) in the quickest time I am personally capable of; here are some stats:
Distance: 37.8
Km / 23.5 Miles approx
Total ascent: 1450m
approx.
Average altitude: 410m (1345
feet)
Min. altitude: 233m (764 feet)
Pen-y-ghent: 694m (2277 feet)
Ingleborough: 723m (2372 feet)
Whernside: 736m (2415 feet)
Ascent distance: 17.7
km / 11 Miles 46.5%
Descent distance: 17.7 km / 11
Miles 46.5%
Level distance: 2.4
km / 1.5 Miles 7%
I have no doubt that this will be a toughie, but I am determined to complete this course (even if it takes me all day and night!).
So please do consider donating to my fundraiser, as every bit counts.
Right, better crack on with it!
Cheers.
