As most of you know my eldest sister Stephanie is mentally disabled and suffers from severe epilepsy. Each day she has many fits and is on constant medication to try and help her and control the attacks. Epilepsy affects over 400 000 people in the uk and there is still alot that is not known.

In some moment of insanity I decided running a marathon would be a great way to raise money for The Epilepsy Research Foundation. The Foundation promotes and supports the basic and clinical scientific research into the causes, treatment and prevention of epilepsy. For those of you who don't remember, this time last year I had just got out of hospital having had two collapsed lungs and and a major operation and couldn't even make it back from the shop at the end of the road!! So its a bit of a challenge for me too! (yes I am trying to make you part with lots of money!!) All the money raised will be going into the David Scourse Memorial Fund at Epilepsy research. David was a good friend who had a mild form of epilepsy. He was studying to be a doctor and was a keen runner. David died a year and a half ago from a massive epilepsy attack. Im running between 20 and 35 miles a week which will be around 350 miles by the time the marathon starts! You can all do without a couple of extra drinks on a Friday night for just one week- every penny counts and you'll be helping research to make the lives of many people a lot easier and pain free! Thanks again, and if any one wants to push me round in a wheel barrow I'm open to offers!! Hope to see you soon! Phil Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Epilepsy Research Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
