Marathon complete!
The London Marathon 2010
Complete! 03:54:50 - 25 minutes faster than last year!
But boy was that tough. With poor rest the week
leading up to the race, with Tamsin's illness I started
tired. I just had to go for it. I suffered at about 16 miles
then from 19 onward strong urges to just stop
as I dropped pace toward the end.
But there - I've done it!
If you are just visiting me now there is still time to donate...........!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over the coming months I will be training to run the London Marathon - again. Last year I ran my first ever marathon so now I know what's coming.............. why me!!!
But for me this isn't about me it's about me helping to give something back...
Tamsin's story
http://sites.google.com/site/vlm2010philspage/Home/tamsins-story
In November of
2000 Jane and I were expecting our second child.
Jane woke one morning to find things were
not right, she was losing amniotic fluid. It was week 22 some 17 to 18 weeks
before our baby's full term.
Jane spent
two weeks in the local Hospital in Walsall confined
to total bed rest.
Week 24 came – This is the UK legal minimum age for terminations from now on
the hospital had two patients.
Jane was moved to the Newcross Hospital
Wolverhampton who specialize in babies born this early.
We were give only a 10% chance of our baby surviving.
One week later, at just 2lbs 2 oz, just less than one kilo Tamsin was Born……
Bliss ia a Charity who
help support families of pre term and low birthweight newbies like Tamsin. We
found their reassurance and support invaluable through information help and
support we received from the Nurses and Doctors. It made the difference between
hope and despair. In situations like these without hope you have nothing.
Tamsin is now a small but
lively 8 year old with nursing aspirations of her own ……..
Please lend me your
support to help
BLISS help other such families, as
well as the Doctors and Nurses who achieve so much more than they can ever
receive credit for.
How your money will help BLISS:
• £5 could provide telephone support for a distressed
family.
• £25 could buy a complete set of
information booklets.
• £50 could fund a neonatal nurse on a
BLISS study day.
• £120 could provide a nursing bursary
for a neonatal nurse
