Why 518km?
My Dad sadly died 518 days after being told he had pancreatic cancer.
In memory of Dad I set a challenge to run 518 km in 518 days- but only in organised running events and races that gave a recorded time and finish place.
I completed my challenge 1 week early (in 73 weeks). I have never been a keen 'runner' and found myself questioning my sanity getting up at 7 am to drive 60 miles on Sunday morning to run 10 miles at -2°!
I have proudly worn my Pancreatic Cancer UK vest in every race, and hope to have created more awareness for this terrible disease which is the 5th leading cause of death from cancer in the UK and one of the least survivable- only 1 person in 100 lives to 10 years after diagnosis.
I want to continue to raise much needed money for research and decided to run 4 more races, the third the Cambridge Half Marathon on 5th March 2017, and then the Wings for Life World Run in May.
Please donate to help find better treatment and one day a cure for Pancreatic Cancer.
