In early 2018 I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer , quite a shock for myself and my family. I was supported during this time by nurses directly supported by Prostaid from when I had my diagnosis through my treatment and beyond
Prostaid is a local charity for Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northants, it receives no government funding and relies totally on donation and bequests.
It provides two specialist nurses, one at Leicester General Hospital and the other at the Oncology department in the Royal Infirmary and funds new cutting edge treatments not available on the NHS.
They run support groups in Leicester, Notts and Northants, these are a vital link and provide befriending services for those undergoing treatment and beyond.
I decided that I wanted to give something back to Prostaid. As as a keen cyclist who needs something to train for I thought the Coast to Coast route would be THE challenge -170 miles over 3 days. So in September along with 5 others I will be doing The Way of the Roses route from Morecombe to Bridlington.
All money raised from this will allow other men the access to the support and help given to me and my family at a very worrying and uncertain time.
