Thank you for visiting the JustGiving Page in memory of Phil. Phil was passionate about justice and the environment and used his legal skills to stand up for disadvantaged communities and put a stop to activities which threaten all of our futures. In his 10 years at Friends of the Earth Phil played a pioneering role including setting up our Rights and Justice Centre and developing the law on Freedom of Information. FoE currently recruits volunteers to help with its legal work, but we struggle to reach out to a wider cross section of people because the role is unpaid. FoE hopes to commemorate Phil by creating a funded internship which provides entry level skills for young people seeking a career in law and campaigning. In doing so, it  intends to reach out to a wider cross section of young people, giving them opportunities to acquire useful skills whatever their circumstances and enabling us to recruit the very best candidates for the role.
